A BRIEF HISTORY OF MY EXPERIENCE
Thanks to my PARENTS, I began to develop my creative abilities in PRESCHOOL. These progressed to my early TEENS and beyond, and although I have worked with most traditional art medium for the first quarter of my life, when I do so today, I prefer the combination of PRISMACOLOR pencils, and AIRBRUSHING. Actually one of my favorite pastimes is creating distorted caricatures of politicians and celebrities using the combined medium. I even took some CARICATURES that I developed at various times for various purposes throughout my life, and ANIMATED them with sound using Adobe Flash.
Below are sets of buttons that will connect you to many samples of my work. Some of the fine art samples date back 25 years. Some of them are assignments and projects that I created while attending COLLEGE six years ago. Some are complete children's books. Some are caricactures that have been PUBLISHED in the form of a cartoon, or used on client caricature business CARDS.
Most of them are fairly recent Graphic Design jobs that I have been commissioned to complete. Normally it starts with something simple like a LOGO, or a BUSINESS CARD. Then it may evolve into a SIGN, BROCHURE, AD, POST CARD or complex BUSINESS FORM. Often times it ends up with me creating and hosting the WEB SITE, and either developing or modifying the organization's whole visual identity. This sometimes results in me handling all of the advertising and promotional needs of the company or organization, which is fine with me.
In earlier years, (late 70's 1980's), before the digital revolution, I was basically a STARVING ARTIST doing eveything from airbrushing TEE SHIRTS, ART SHOWS, live caricatures at amusement PARKS, and painted PORTRAITS from reference photos.
Then, while still painting on the side, During the mid 1980's I became a MEAT CUTTER for 4 years. In the early 90's, I managed two COFFEE SHOPS where I displayed and sold most of my work, (portraits, etc.), and worked part time in a local SILK SCREENING shop. This sparked my interest in Adobe Illustrator, which gave birth to my involvement in Graphic Design today.
Between taking courses in Graphic Design and related subjects, I worked for a small, local wide-format graphics company (Express-it Graphics) as Designer, Production Manager, Delivery, Installation, and Sales. (Actually I was the only employee, and handled all of the affairs.) The owner lived in another state at the time, and was occupied with his other businesses.)
We, (I) specialized in LARGE SIGNS, VINYL CUTTING and application, huge printed OUTDOOR BANNERS, BILLBOARD slip covers, RENTAL SIGNS with replaceable letters, FLEET GRAPHICS and such. I decided to leave and learn about web design and programming in 2005, and work temporarily as a part-time designer for a small spanish-speaking SIGN AND BANNER Shop.

Since then I have basically been doing freelance contract work for small printing companies and copy centers, SCREENPRINTING shops, BOOK PUBLISHERS, SELF PUBLISHING, NEWSPAPERS, etc. I launched my first live WEB SITE in 2005. I was a dedicated QuarkXpress 6.0 guy because that is the application that I used for page layout in almost all of my projects. Quark has web page layout features that work exactly like its print capabilities. I could lay out a document just as I would any other, and then export it to HTML FORMAT. At the time, I became completely enamored. This made it easy for me to make the transition, however today I would never use Quark as my default web ap. I prefer both Adobe Dreamweaver and Flash along with some HAND CODING.
